Near East Area Renewal Names Emily Scott as Executive Director
Near East Area Renewal (NEAR) has named Emily Scott as its next Executive Director. She officially began the role on Monday, May 12.
Emily brings more than 15 years of experience across community development, public service and economic strategy. In her most recent role, she served as Administrator of Community and Economic Development at the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development, where she led a cross-functional team focused on real estate initiatives, local incentives, and strategic partnerships.
Prior to her role with the City, Emily served in multiple leadership positions at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), where she oversaw small business recovery initiatives, managed grant and loan portfolios, and developed economic development strategies in partnership with neighborhood organizations and funders.
NEAR is a community-based nonprofit serving the Near Eastside neighborhoods of Indianapolis. Its work is guided by community input, with over half of its board composed of Near Eastside residents and more than half made up of women or minority leaders.
